Flashpoint’s geospatial open-source intelligence tool, Echosec, now allows users to search and refine results in natural language.

With this update, users can simply describe their query in plain language and receive relevance-ranked results. Boolean searches are still supported for users who prefer building manual queries.

The AI-driven search builder also simplifies keyword research by identifying relevant terms analysts might miss, expanding visibility while preserving intent. This removes technical barriers, alleviates the need for complex Boolean syntax, and accelerates operational efficiency across security teams.

Why it matters

Historically, extracting value from open-source data required the use of Boolean syntax. This technical barrier often creates friction for new analysts or teams operating under extreme time pressure.

With AI-driven plain-language search and intelligent refinement, Echosec removes this barrier. Security teams can now describe a location, topic, or threat type as if explaining it to a colleague. The system handles the technical construction and automatically filters the data down to the most pertinent content while keeping the user in control by reviewing and approving the search plan.

Relevance ranking takes speed-to-insight a step further by prioritizing data based on the true intent of the search. They can drill down even further by asking follow-up questions about their initial query.
