Business email compromise

BEC—a type of email fraud that usually leads to payment fraud or the obtaining of sensitive corporate information. For example, actors may contact finance departments and request fund transfers or vendor payments. Actors may also send emails pretending to be from the CEO or another high-ranking official within the company, asking to initiate a wire transfer. Once the funds are wired, mules (witting or unwitting) move the money and continue the scam.
